I've been told that if you stand smack-dab under one of those biggest wind turbines, you get a "whoosh, whoosh" as each blade goes by. The bigger they are, the slower they turn. So the whooshes come at a "thousand-and-one, thousand-and-two pace, and slower if there isn't much wind. Of course, cattle graze within 100 feet of them. And besides that, the farmer / rancher / other owner gets significant rent / lease / royalty continuing payments for the use of the land on which those things sit.
And there is another noise to think about. If you live near the railroad tracks where 100 150 car trains thunder by 24/7, you'll get plenty of noise there too. They are carrying coal from Montana to the east coast to feed the multi-megawatt (very polluting) electric generating power plants those wind turbines can at least partially replace.
