I've checked my openers for idle current with a kill-a-watt and they are
no where near 60 watts sititng idle.
Hey all, I just bought a Kill-A-Watt for under $20 delivered and I'm having a
blast with it as I type here on my 42W Laptop (charging). If you don't already

They do have a newer model out which is why this one is so inexpensive but the
only difference I see is that the new one will not loose the cumulative
watt/hours if the power fails, not a big deal?
BTW I was suprised to find out my chest freezer only draws 86W and seems to run
about 50%, it was just a cheap small one. If I turned the temp up on it to use
it as a refrigerator I suspect it would only draw 20 w/hrs average! I'm
suprised they don't make chest style refrigerators for off grid living
