UK/TURKEY: Camcal Ltd. has has won its largest ever order from Dutch wind turbine manufacturer EWT for the construction of 49 wind turbines for an onshore farm in Turkey. The Shetland-based fabrication group almost went into liquidation last year, but has bounced back with this US$10 million deal, which will create up to 70 new jobs.
Last year, the Arnish yard helped to build three Pelamis wave generators for Ocean Power Delivery for installation off the Portuguese coast.
The group went into administration in December, but was saved three months later by Swiss/Dutch investment redevelopment company Altissimo. This contract guarantees six months work for Camcal.
